State-of-the-art balls for Wanderers Stadium!

Customer experience has become integral to successfully attracting, attaining and retaining supporters. Sporting venues are ensuring that they offer a new and enhanced fan experience. Supporters want it, and the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg is improving their internet offering; making it easier for fans to connect during games.

With an additional technologically-advanced ball, the Matsing Lens Antenna, the Stadium now offers its fans even more efficient coverage.

Matsing Lens Antennas currently hold industry records

Radio Network Solutions (RNS) installed the first Antenna at the Stadium during October 2017 which, at such time, made Wanderers the second cricketing venue in Africa to benefit from LENS technology.

With the recent installation, the Stadium now boasts two matching Matsing Lens Antennas ensuring coverage for South Africa’s two biggest networks. The set of Antenna balls provides mobile and data coverage, replacing the traditional Cable/Active DAS that was six sectors to a solution that now provides 12 sectors; effectively doubling the capacity and improving the fan experience.

The multi-sector multi-band antennas are positioned 14 metres above ground level, on a strategically-designed tower structure, which was built and installed by the RNS Team.

“Matsing Lens Antennas currently hold industry records for data capacity throughput,” explains RNS sales director, Richard Hill. “We are confident that end-users will now be able to enjoy seamless connectivity through their choice of mobile and data service provider at the Stadium.”

As one of Africa’s most innovative and leading communications solutions suppliers, RNS’ engineers design, implement and support wireless networks in any environment. The company’s customers vary from small private networks to some of the world’s biggest telecommunications companies.

Hill concludes: “We are proud of our ability to customise solutions for our clients’ needs, as no client is too big or too small for us.”
